Tian Jin Festival brings Taiwanese street food to Burnaby this May

This month of May, we attend many food festivals, and to say that we are delighted is an understatement.

The Tian Jin Festival, affectionately known as the TJ Fest for short, adds to the already packed list of festivals to mark on your calendars.

TJ Fest will take place in Burnaby at Tian Jin Temple on Saturday May 14th and Sunday May 15th.

The festival is a celebration of the cultural diversity of Vancouver’s Chinese community, with live music and plenty of authentic Taiwanese street food.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the festival and to celebrate it will be tripled to accommodate more guests and more food.

The annual festival has been around since 2012 and has quickly become one of Burnaby’s most popular festivals, especially for its wide range of varied cuisines.

You can expect to find popular street food from a variety of vendors serving dishes like popcorn chicken, tasty Chinese rolls and sweet red bean pockets.

In addition to live entertainment, there will be carnival-style games and fun activities suitable for all ages. Local small businesses will set up booths to showcase their wares, and all proceeds raised by festival organizers from community market vendors will be donated to the Canadian Liver Foundation.

Entrance to the festival is free and open to the public.
