Deputy municipal engineer and ex-SDM arrested in St Teresa land scam case
Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): The infamous St. Teresa’s multi-million dollar land scam in Dhar took a new twist on Sunday when Dhar police arrested Dhar Municipality Deputy Engineer Sudhir Thakur, then Subdivision Magistrate CK Gupta and the sent to prison.
Dhar Police Superintendent Aditya Pratap Singh said an investigation revealed Gupta and Thakur’s involvement in the scam.
Thakur is currently assigned to Pithampur, while CK Gupta has retired from service. The local court sent Thakur to two-day pre-trial detention, while Gupta was sent to jail.
With two other arrests on Sunday, so far 17 defendants have been arrested in this case. Police are still looking for 14 other defendants involved in the scam.
SP Singh said on Sunday that police had recorded two more cases. Action will be taken against those who gave protection to fugitive Sudhir Jain, a key conspirator in the case.
In addition, we will also take action against those who take multiple SIM cards from multi-purpose providers, he added.
