“The Chinese hospital is the type of institution that I want to support the most. It has an excellent tradition of caring for the local community, especially less privileged groups. Education and health have always been the main priorities of my Foundation. It’s also why, after making significant donations to my two alma maters in the UK and ChinaI chose the Chinese hospital as the recipient of my first charitable donation in the United States,” said Dr. Huang. “Throughout the pandemic, we have witnessed anti-Asian, especially anti-Chinese sentiment in American society. I hope my donation can also show American society that Asian Americans , especially Chinese Americans, care about our communities and give back to our communities to make our communities better and stronger.”
The donation will fund the redevelopment of the hospital’s outpatient tower infrastructure and the creation of innovative programs that meet the health needs of the community. The renovated building will be named “Charles Huang Foundation Outpatient Tower”. and provide additional capacity and services, including new sub-acute care beds and operating suites, laboratory and administrative improvements, and mental health programs and nutrition services.
dr. Jian ZhangCEO of the Chinese hospital, said: “We are grateful to Dr. Huang for this generous donation which will enable us to extend much needed services to our local community..” Mr. Kitman ChanChairman of the Board of the Chinese Hospital, added: “This remarkable gift will allow for the expansion of the exceptional health services that San Franciscans need.“
