Al Wakra Municipality partners with QF’s Earthna to improve quality of life
Al Wakra Municipality and Earthna Center for a Sustainable Future – the non-profit research and advocacy center of the Qatar Foundation (QF), announced their cooperation in carrying out studies to calculate carbon emissions in areas within the administrative borders of the municipality and to develop the necessary mechanisms for this in several stages, QNA reported.
At a press conference on Sunday, Al Wakra Municipality Director, Eng. Mohamed Hassan al-Nuaimi and the Director of Sustainable Development at the Earthna Center Sheikh Dr. Soud bin Khalifa al-Thani stressed the importance of this cooperation and joint efforts between the two parties, especially in terms of calculating the stock of emissions from carbon in the areas under the Al Wakra City Borders Administration, and analyze the results and data to take sustainable measures to improve the quality of life in the city by following the working mechanisms, which the municipality has started to take by launching the Al Wakrah initiative on the road to carbon neutrality.
They pointed out that the continuous efforts between the Municipality of Al Wakra and Earthna Center, within the framework of this joint project, will make the city of Al Wakra among the list of advanced cities in the field of sustainable development at the international level and would strengthen the joint work between the two parties. in these areas.
